Where Has the Time Gone?

We have had so much fun the last few weeks with family/friends!!! I'm definitely a little behind in my postings!!!! But, here goes!! :)

A few Fridays ago the girls brought their best friends home from school with them. And then we had one of my best friends, Diane and her family come out. We ordered pizza and did a bonfire and made smores!!! So fun!!! The kids had a BLAST!
Walker and Raegan...it was her bday!!!!
We went for a hike as a family on a GREAT saturday morning. Totally LoVe this picture of my two girls...definitely a "wall worthy" picture....

Another great picture...too bad Abby was the one taking it!!
Me and Rylie girl!!!
She is getting SO BIG!!! She has not been too fun the last few week, cz of TEETHING!!!!!
She has one on the bottom that came through, still waiting for more....she is THE cutest!!! :)
Walker also had a bday and turned 3!!!!
We invited family/friends over and we did another fire out front!! We had lotsa fun with everyone again!!! Walker got EVERYTHING he wanted!!! Cars, trucks and vroom, vrooms!!!! He was one happy camper!!!
We also got to spend a night w/one of my best friends Gayla and her family during Thanksgiving week. They moved to Colorado a few months ago (so sad). But got to meet them at the park and have dinner together and play!!! It was so great to see them. Unfortunately I am LaMe and totally forgot my camera...so didn't get any pictures:( boo!!!

Hoover Dam Marathon

Nathan was able to get off work early friday so we could leave at a decent time and make it to the hotel so i could pick up my race packet and check in. This picture is when we first arrived....hmmm...he looks like he's been driving for a bit too long. HAHA
Me and my biggest fan!!! Morning of the race!!!
AND I'm off!!! Beautiful colors out that morning. The race started at the beaches of Lake Mead. We ran on the backside of the hoover dam...on the side of the mountain...through these awesome tunnels. I WISH I had a camera while I was running! It was so awesome!!!! The weather was perfect and I felt real good the first half of the race.

The 2nd half of the race, proved to be a little more difficult. It was full of Hills, Hills and More Hills. Oh and they were some hills thrown in there too. I'm not gonna lie...there were some real HARD times during the end. I did a LOT of self talk...AND to the man upstairs :)

My dear, sweet, cute hubby...found me at around mile 22....it gave me a quick boost and much needed moral support!!! He then found me again at mile 24...he was holding up a bright neon sign that a few of my sister in laws had made for me! It was AWESOME and again, just what I needed at the moment to get me through to the end!!!!
My body, especially my knees, did surprisingly well!!! I had no problems with pain AT ALL. I seriously couldn't believe it. With the downhill stuff, I was worried about my knee but it did great!!!!
Post race...feeling good, but TIRED
Taking a little breather!!!
Rylie did AMAZING during the race and there was NO need for me to even worry about her!! She slept almost the whole time I was running, thank heavens!!! I was real worried about her because I'm still nursing...but she did WONDERFUL!!!!! Yay for her..and YAY for dad!!!!
Us at the hoover dam
I feel so proud of myself for what I have accomplished. And I also feel SO greatful for the support that my family and friends have showed me through this whole journey!!! My husband has had to sacrifice a LOT of time so that I could do all my training runs, but never once did he complain. He was always happy to watch the kids and do what needed to be done, so that I could do my running.
Its a great feeling to know that I can do something that seemed so far out of reach for me a few years ago. I NEVER thought I could do something like this...and look at me now!!!! And I loved the genuine excitement of family/friends when I got to talk to
them after the race...it made me feel so good.
I had a lot of doubt as race time drew near, but everybody else that believed in me made those doubts and fears go away. So, a big THANK YOU to everyone that supported me and believed in me and my abilities!!!! Who's up for round 2???!!!!!
(yes I want to do another one....I know, I'm crazy)

Goes by Fast....

Sunday we had breakfast together as a family. Nathan and I were doing the dishes afterwards while listening to conference. Big kids were coloring in the living room...cute little Rylie was hanging out in her high chair. She was just talking, playing, laughing and well...being cute! Nathan was talking to her....I stood there at the sink...looking at her...and couldn't believe how big she was. I stood there...still looking at her...and just started to cry. Nathan looked at me and said whats wrong??!!! All I could say was, she's getting so big!!! He put his arm around me and just held me for a minute.

Seriously, where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday that it was Walker sitting in that high chair...being all cute. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in my bathtub, holding Rylie in my arms for the very first time. I look at her...and I look at the rest of my kids...and I am just amazed at where they are at. How they have changed, and continue to change each and every day.

I keep forgetting that rebekkah is even 9 years old! For some reason, I still think she is 8. What would I do without her? She really saves me from going crazy. She helps me so much. She holds Rylie...who is SO HEAVY now... Somehow she knows exactly what I need and when. I will be trying to make dinner, or do something and Rylie will be crying on the floor...or I'm trying to do something with her and she's crying in my arms. Rebekkah will come and ask...mom? You want me to hold her?

Abby turns 7 this month. SEVEN!!! Where did my chubby baby go?? She has really thinned out and gotten taller the last year or so. Almost taller then her sister! I can be gauranteed a laugh when this girl is around. She laughs at almost EVERYTHING! Sunday night we were all outside just enjoying the weather...looking at the beautiful moon...playing hangman with the sidewalk chalk. At one point, it was just me and Abby...she heard a noise and for some reason thought it was the funniest thing in the world. She started histarically laughing...and I in turn...laughed histarically right with her. We laughed and laughed about NOTHING for a good 1/2 an hour. Her smile is contagious...very, very contagious....

The things that matter most...are right here. And some days...I miss the point. Some days I let go right by me without even acknowledging the goodness. Without reveling in the blessings that are right before my eyes. Each one of these kids brings me joy beyond measure. And I wouldn't trade that for the world.

I love, love, love this time of year. The weather is changing. And I almost feel giddy inside. I love driving with the windows down and singing to the music. I love having the whole house open and feeling the breeze go through. I love sitting out front with my cute hubby and just watching the kids play and laugh. It's a fun time of year. One I look forward to with my whole heart.

Rebekkah and Abby's first day back to school! Goofy kids!

Ahhh...feels so good....

As most know, I am an outdoor girl. I have a hard time being inside for too long. It had been WAY too long since I had been out hiking. I was ready for some good times on the trail. (And yes, I'm ready to go back)
Of course, the babe had to join in. She loves being out just as much as I do! (This is after the hike, she slept most the way back!)

My brother Corey was in town from Moab

My dad and nephew Clancey

View from Usery Pass (thanks be to CHRIS for all the pics!!!)
Corey telling us a very GOOD story.
(He just got back from a Grand Canyon trip, so he has LOTS of good ones!)

Me and my girl!
This whole picture is just funny. Rylie's face and Chris's lack of a head....hahahahaha
Sometimes I feel like I am disconnected with life, my family, my hubby, my inner self. The last few weeks have been difficult ones. And I have felt this disconnection greatly. But just being out on the trail, being somewhere I love and being with great people has steered me back. Summertime is difficult living here in AZ...because it's so BLASTED hot that you can't go do a lot of things you'd like to do. Like take the kids for a walk at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
I have figured out that Fall is my most favorite time of the year. The weather starts to change...the days and nights get cooler...and I can be outside all the time. I went to dinner last week w/my cute sister in law Jenny and my mom. Jenny got a drink and I can't for the life of me remember what its called, (I will have to ask her)I know it was a tea...anyway...it was so tasty! And it just totally reminded me of Christmas time. I am already getting impatient for the cooler weather to roll around. And it's only August!!!! I love the smells of fall...the feeling of being a little chilly...spending our time after dinner playing out front and looking at the stars and moon....the cool wind on my face...snuggling w/my hubby...bike rides and park trips....oh summer...why must you be so, so, so hot??!!!!
I'm thinking a night hike sounds fun....
