Ho..Hum....

This is my CUTE, ADORABLE, GOOFY, ONE OF A KIND...husband...
Our 8th anniversary is approaching us on the 25th! I can hardly believe it...
On our recent trip to one of the beautifulest (is that a word???!!!) places on earth, Moab...I was in charge of the tunes in the car...me being the "passenger". I flipped through our hundreds of cd's that we've collected over the years and came across 4 specific meaningful ones. 4 songs, 3 cd's....most every couple has "their song"...US??!!!! We have like a million it seems...
At this particular time, I'd like to focus on our 4...and if you've never heard of these songs, you are DEFINITELY missing out!! Mind you, after hearing the first song, I was in tears!! I'll write the words of some of that tear jerker (yes, my husband thought I was totally insane)
Song #1: "Somebody" by Depeche Mode
I want somebody to share, share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts, know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side, and give me support
And in return, she'll get my support
She will listen to me, when I want to speak
About the world we live in, and life in general
Though our views may be wrong, they may even be perverted
She'll hear me, oh, and won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking, in fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all, She will understand me
I want somebody who cares, for me passionately
With every thought, and with every breath
Someone who'll help me see things, in a different light
All the things I detest, I would almost lie
I don't want to be tied, to anyones strings
I carefully try to stay clear of those things
And when I'm asleep, I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me, kiss me tenderly
Little things like this, make me sick
In a case like this, I'll get away with it
Song #2: "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman
Song #3: "With or Without You" by U2
Song #4: "One" by U2
Ahhh, now I'm really missing my one and only!!!!

those are good songs...is your husband gone, or are you just missing him?

Wow! Those songs take me back...Depeche Mode especially reminds me of one of my college roommates.

I can't think of the Tracy Chapman one, but the other two are great. Total 90's! Thanks.

P.S. Your husband must be a good one if you get to be in charge of car tunes! ;-)

It's interesting because all those songs came out around the time you guys were dating, right? Mine and Tanner's songs are songs that came out more recently, like Chasing Cars and The Luckiest. I never realized it but you can tell how long somebody has been married by what their song is. It doesn't date YOU but it dates your marriage. Does that make sense?

Dang-it...which one is it that sings Somebody? Martin, not David right? I haven't heard this song in YEARS. I used to love them, I went to a concert when I was in 7th gr. with my sister. After that I didn't like them. But, occasionally I will still totally sing along to songs in my head. It's funny how every couple has their songs...I need to think of what mine are.

Anissa,it's so great to hear from you. I loved looking at your blog. Makes me want to go to Moab. You have a sweet family. Your oldest daughter looks so much like you. I see Gayla every so often. We used to be in the same stake, but it split a while back. Will you please email me her phone number? My email is austin_pettit@yahoo.com. We'll see you in about a month. Take care.

okay brace yourself, this is natallie cumming(now howard) i don't know if you remember me but i went to school with you at lindbergh. we spent our recesses trying to beat the boys at basketball and you taught me how to make the best chocolate chip cookies at your house.(and the importance of rolling the cookie dough into perfect balls!) so i googled you and here you are! i'm trying to find keta too.. it was so funny cause i was hoping there would be a picture of you on your blog so i knew if it was you and the first picture that popped up was of your oldest daughter. i saw it and i was like yep, that is anissa's little girl. she reminds me of you so much except for the blonde hair. so now i'm assuming you remember me...wasn't mr. mcandrew(?) such a cute teacher! i hope all is well with your family, i will have to go back and read all that you've been up to...hope you don't mind having another commenter.
