Rebekkah's Turn!! And...an Ah-hah story

It was Rebekkah's Christmas concert this week!!! She looked very beautiful...I can't believe how old she is starting to look!!!! My little munchkin!!! *sniff sniff*
The clan before the concert. Nathan hasn't been home all week, he's been working out of town.
Cousin Bethany came with Grandma to participate in the festivities!!!
Surprise, Surprise!!! Daddy made the drive home for the night so he could be at the concert!! Rebekkah is just realizing that dad is out there in the audience with us!!! Her reaction was hilarious!!! She did a great job singing!!!
She was so excited that dad came home to be there for her!! Thanks dad!!! You made her night!!!
The Ah-hah story:
It's 5pm. The kids are hungry. Mom was "festivally" baking cookies all day and cleaning up the massive disaster that generally happens when baking!! Mom needs to run to Walmart to pick up a few things. SO, no daddy home equals all munchkins in the car!!! We head to the store and sing along with the christmas carols playing on the radio. Mom picks up the things she needs AND a few things she doesn't. Walker is in and out of the cart, pushing...pulling...biting (his newest fun phase)...yelling at harmless passerby's...we get checked out. Mom is starving, it is now 5:30...hmmmm...subway sounds good especially the part where MOM doesn't have to cook it AND it's healthier then any other fast food joint out here. So in turn, MOM doesn't feel so bad for eating there. We order sandwiches....abby wants strawberry milk...mom says no...Rebekkah picks out her "side" of non-healthy chips...Walker, pushing...pulling..and running rampid through the store. We sit down to eat...Walker? refuses to eat anything but chips...mom eats her VERY yummy and healthy sandwich...AND takes a picture of each one of the kids on my phone to send to daddy. He texts back...."I sure miss you all" *sniff*...mom is ready to go home after she wrestles Walker back into the cart....the kids are now happy, tummies are full...mommy is happy yet exhausted. Mom asks Rebekkah where she parked (because she can never remember)...we find the car...Abby and Walker are in the cart, Rebekkah walking beside us. Mommy starts to run, VERY FAST to the car and the kids laugh and laugh and laugh. They are still laughing when I put them in the car...two women beside us putting groceries in their car are laughing because MY kids are having such a good time.
AND ALL BECAUSE I DECIDED TO RUN.
Some may be wondering why I am sharing this story with you. And my reasons might not make sense to you, but here goes anyway...because it's my story and my moment that I will remember always. It is all about the last sentence. Because I decided to run.
That choice changed my whole night. My whole being. That choice made me realize that I was being in a moment with my kids. I wasn't just going, going, going like I was when we first entered that walmart store. When the children were histarically laughing, I was too. How many "moments" like this have I missed out on? Because I was too busy, too tired, too angry..too...whatever? On our way home...we continued to sing to the christmas carols...and Abby made a comment..."mom, i'm going to tell dad that you ran and we had so much fun".
All because I decided to run....
It's these little things that my children are going to remember.
These little every day moments that can make us happy.
These moments that can make us smile...
I hope you decide to run

I hope I decide to run too, but right now I've decided to cry! I LOVED this post! So adorable! I found myself nodding along in complete understanding the WHOLE time! I love being silly with my kids! I love making them laugh full-belly laughs and hearing them say "Do it again, Mom!" This truly is an "Ah-hah!" moment.

I just read this post. Late late late I know.

Running with the cart is a simple pleasure I'm convinced! I'm so glad you decided to run! Your kids are going to treasure these moments just as much as you and that makes you the best mom EVER!!!

Nate is not so bad a dad either! ;)
